Stand Up for Your Faith

“A church has to stand for something, or it stands for nothing . . . .  I’m an Episcopalian, and too few Episcopalians stand up for their faith.”

Karl Rove

Karl Rove

– Karl Christian Rove, on The O’Reilly Factor, Fox News, November 24.

Political analyst Karl Rove, former Senior Advisor and Deputy Chief of Staff to President George W. Bush, is correct. We Episcopalians are used to being accommodating, polite, and nonconfrontational.  We’ve grown unused to standing up for our right to practice our religion. Perhaps this is because we’re no longer sure exactly what our religion is, given the constant shifts by Church peace-and-justice revisionists. When faced with the flight or fight option, we too often choose to flee rather than stand our ground.

Episcopalians who want to get back in touch with their faith can find it all in one place – between the covers of the 1928 Book of Common Prayer. Here is a ceremony for every occasion throughout our lives, a prayer for every purpose, passages from the Bible, instruction on the meaning and practice of our faith. It is all written in beautiful, reverent English, the kind of language that rises above everyday secular jargon. Great language suits great subjects and elevates us as we worship.

If you or someone you know would  like to learn what it is to be an Episcopalian, please consider making a donation to Episcopalians for Traditional Faith (ETF) so that we can continue to supply 1928 BCPs to individuals and parishes requesting them. You’d be doing a very good thing. You’d be standing up for what you believe.
